The commonly used aluminium alloy profiles in China are 6000 series aluminium profiles, of which 6063, 6061 and 6005 are the most common. These aluminium alloy profiles are all aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloys. As a result, they are all suitable for extrusion profiles, but each have different uses.
Different alloy composition content:
6005 contains 0.4%-0.6% magnesium and 0.6%-0.9% silicon.
6061 contains 0.8%~1.2% magnesium and 0.4%~0.8% silicon;
6063 contains 0.45%-0.9% magnesium and 0.2%-0.6% silicon.
The content of other trace elements also varies, so different alloy content results in differences in performance, strength, and range of use.
Features Of 6063 Aluminium Alloy
Aluminium alloy produced by heat treatment pre-tensile process has many characteristics of magnesium and silicon alloy, good machining properties, good welding characteristics and electroplating properties, good corrosion resistance, high toughness and after processing, dense material without defect, easy polishing, easy coloring film, oxidation effect, etc.
The plastic properties of 6063 aluminium are better than 6061, therefore, most extruded profiles are selected 6063 aluminum profiles. But the 6063 is not as strong and machined as the 6061 aluminium. Compared with 6061 and 6063, 6005 aluminium has high tensile strength and yield strength and good fracture toughness. For profiles requiring higher strength, 6005 aluminum profiles will be used.
The surface gloss of 6063 and 6061 is better than 6005 as 6005 aluminium is much darker, so 6063 aluminium is better suited as a trim material. The 6061 and 6005 aluminium alloys can also be made into aluminium plates, whereas the 6063 is essentially not made into aluminium plates.
6063 aluminium alloy is a kind of aluminium alloy material with excellent comprehensive performance, which is widely used in industrial and construction fields. 6061 aluminium is mainly used in aerospace, ship equipment, molds, electronics, corrosion-resistant structures, and other fields. 6005 aluminium alloy is commonly used in ladder, TV antenna, etc.
